Calamari @ night

Come and try your hand at calamari fishing. Greece has a long tradition of fishing, and calamari (squid) is a common catch in the Aegean and Ionian Seas. It´s a popular activity for locals. Calamari can be fished all year-round but 'peak' season is spring to autumn when the water is warmer and they are most active. Squid can be found swimming in shallow coastal waters but also in the deep and dark depths where they usually hide during the daytime and as soon as night falls, they come to eat. Of course Squid can be caught during a bright and sunny day but at night our chances are much higher, especially because they are attracted by light. There are various ways to catch calamari, including jigging, trolling, and hand-lining.

We start our tour in Votsi to watch how the sun sinks slowly beyond the horizon. enjoying a cold drink and getting the perfect picture to celebrate this memorable occasion. When it becomes dark we can check different spots where squids are usually around. Once anchored we will prepare rod and bait and with patience and good luck we will succeed.

The catch you made you can take it with you or we deliver it to one of our partner taverna that prepares, grills or fries it for you on the next day.
